Below you can find the courses I took at Clemson University that had significant meaning to me. Each course has contributed to my growth and development.
Business Courses
ECON 2010: Microeconomics
Introductory level economics course that discusses economic reasoning with regards to both consumers and companies. Students are taught the basic principles of supply and demand, the requirements to having a competitive advantage versus, and notable economic events in recent history.
MKT 3010: Principles of Marketing
course that examines the basic concepts involved in the planning, pricing, promoting, and placing processes of goods and services. The course is heavy on vocabulary.
ECON 2120: Principles of Macroeconomics
This course is to be immediately taken following Principles of Microeconomics. It is focused on the study of aggregate economic performance. I took this class synchronously online in the midst of the pandemic.
ECON 3100: International Economics
An in-person course that studied the process of international commerce; building off concepts discussed in both micro-economics and macro-economics. Topics that are covered include global institutions, currency exchange, and supply and demand.
MKT 3020: Consumer Behavior
Course that Examines behavioral science concepts and their application to the understanding of consumer decision making.
MKT 4230: Promotional Strategy
A traditional in-person lecture course designed to highlight the communication function of marketing. Students must participate in class activities and discussions involving the promotional decision-making process and strategies that are attractive to diverse types of consumers.
ENGL 3040: Business Writing
am currently in the process of completing this course which emphasizes the format and etiquette used when writing in any professional environment.
MGT 4230: International Management
A survey course that studied the planning of international business operations. Current international news was also a topic of discussion. Topics studied included globalization, multinational corporations, foreign investments, and international trade.
MKT 4270: International Marketing
A traditional style lecture course that studies marketing with an international lens. It Is crucial. Foreign markets and the differences in strategies used for international marketing are discussed and models like Porter’s Five forces and Five sources model are studied
LAW 3220: Legal Environment of Business
Online course that examines both state and federal business regulations. Constitutional rights and limitations of power are areas of emphasis in the course. There are also multiple case studies that are analyzed and discussed.
Language-Oriented
FR:2020 Intermediate French
A traditional in person course taught predominantly in French. The class emphasizes aspects of French culture during in-class activities, writing compositions, and oral assessments.
FR:3050 Intermediate French Composition and Conversation
Conducted in French with a substantial part of the class working on speaking the French language. Expanding vocabulary and perfecting pronunciation was an area of emphasis throughout the class. The course also highlighted literary devices used in composition.
FR 3160 & 4160: French and International Business I and II
Traditionally taught in a small class that allowed for conversation about the global market. Material taught in these classes included business practices in France and professional business writing formats (letters, CV, emails).
Culture and Literature
FR 3000: Survey of French Literature
Structured around classics in French literature. Literacy analyses were conducted on required texts with attention to artistic style and historical context.
FR 3070: French Civilization
Lecture style French history class that was taught predominantly in French. Course began at the origins of France and wrapped up after the French revolution.
FR 3040: French Short Story
An introductory level course that focuses on notable pieces in French literature. Students are assigned to read short stories from fairytales and folklore; and then are able to take part in analysis and discussion.
FR 4760: Advanced Seminar of French Thought
in-person seminar course that analyzes works of influential French philosophers through reading comprehension, in-class discussions, and in-depth writing prompts. The course was taught in English and in French to accommodate all students. Prevalent topics throughout the course included social inequalities, feminism, racial discrimination, and civil rights.
Other Major Required Courses
LAIB 4000: Language & International Internship
Independent study course that was taken after completing an internship with an international company (French American chamber of commerce of the Carolinas). This course enabled my reflection on my experiences and personal development as a student studying international business. I used my knowledge of the French language to draft an essay and create a presentation on my experiences.
STAT 3090: Introduction to Business Statistics
An introductory probability and statistics course for business students (particularly for students who plan to take MGT 3100. Topics like descriptive statistics, binomial normal, and sample distributions are emphasized in class.
GEOG 1030: World Regional Geography
A traditional survey course that studies major regions of the world. Supplies a global context for courses in the social sciences and humanities.
MGT 2180: Management PC Applications
A fully online course is based on Microsoft excel. New modules are assigned each week that teach students how the functions of excel can be used in any business environment. Topics covered include inserting formulas, creating charts based on given data, forecasting trends, and much more.
PRTM 3090: Behavioral Concepts
An online course that studies social psychological concepts of leisure behavior in various settings. These concepts are critical when managing leisure activities and environments. It can also be applied to international business when researching consumer trends in a specific country or region.
STS 1010: Survey into Science and Technology into Society
A hybrid styled course that reflects on technology’s impact both in a historical context and in modern society. Discussion correlating with class activities is encouraged.
LS 2420: Meditation and Relaxation
In person leisure skills elective that all people can receive help from. The class shows the benefits of meditation and other techniques to relieve stress.
Management Minor Courses
MGT 2010: Principles of Management
An introductory online course that focuses on the role of management as a factor of production. Principles of management, functions of management, and how management in general is organized are all topics covered in this course.
MGT 3900: Operations Management
An in-person survey course that examines both manufacturing and service organizations with regard to their operation/logistical management. Concepts, tools, and techniques for managing the operations function are discussed.
MGT 3100: Intermediate Business Statistics
An advanced statistics course that sees quantitative methods of management scientists. This course provides real-life applications for business and industrial problems. Sample analysis, correlation analysis, and nonparametric methods are some of the many topics of conversation.
MGT 3180: Management of Information Systems
Introductory course for the information management systems used in business applications. The terminology surrounding hardware and software is used continuously. Topics covered in this course include knowledge-based databases, and information systems design and implementation.
MGT 3070: Human Resource Management
Traditional lecture style class which highlights the techniques used for using employee personnel. Concepts discussed include employee choice and recruitment, disciplinary procedures, and performance evaluation.
